A question


My father has ask me a question.What happens whith the wood when you burn it where has the wood went?

It's a really good question that your father asks Quique.

The answer to the question "where does it go" brings us back to the question "where does it come from?"

Wood is made by plants and is made of lots of different sugars that the tree makes by itself as well as chemicals like nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium

When anything burns, the chemicals in it combine with oxygen.

So the carbon and hydrogen in the sugar in wood turn to carbon dioxide and water in the air. The other chemicals turn into their oxides when they combine with oxygen and leave us with ash.
